Welcome to 2013, SydneySyders. It has been quite some time since the group has seen the light of day, but hopefully all this is about to change. We have some amazingly talented artists in our midst and what better place to showcase local talent and encourage mischief than here?


First and foremost, I'm Sarah I've been a member since '09 and my first DevMeet was the great big get-together when dA HQ came out to say hi. I met some amazing people and made some really cool friends since then, all through this little group. In the time I've been a member, it seems that life has reared up and bitten some of our higher-ups in the bum (and it happens to all of us!) so I've decided to try and attach jump cables to the group's nipples and see if we can't get a bit of life out of the old girl yet.

Ironfest 2013

What do medievalists, a Tardis, R2-D2 and Steampunk have in common (besides being awesome)? Ironfest! If you make it to one event this year, make Ironfest that event. Located within walking distance of public transport, Ironfest is held in Lithgow this coming weekend - April 20th - 21st - and is something that has to be seen to be believed. With events ranging from full-contact medieval jousting and falconry to The Doctor fighting off evil, blacksmithing to belly dancing, local markets and the most amazing mini donuts you will ever taste, this event is family friendly and has something for everyone.

I will personally be attending the event and hosting a stall with the Steampunk guys and I can vouch for just how seriously amazing this place is. Just in case you're still not convinced, watch this video of some vikings chasing the Red Barron.
